Our Story

to begin,

Located in Somerset, Kentucky, Menlo Distillery is a family-owned craft distillery specializing in premium bourbon whiskey.  We are 10th-generation direct descendants of the Daniel Boone family with a rich history of small-batch distillation traditions, combining the finest ingredients, renowned Kentucky limestone water, and slow barrel-aging techniques.  Our 200+ year Boone Family legacy take us back to the origins of America and bourbon.  We take great pride in our traditional bourbons and partner to bring some of the finest single-barrel bourbons from other legendary master distillers in Kentucky.  We have an intense focus on quality and tradition.  And, since bourbon is ultimately meant to be an experience, we put thought and creativity into each element of presentation.  Our New England flare of sophistication can be experienced in Sugarwood 1790’s classic design which stems from our own heritage as well as our colleague, Linda Davis.

Dr. Richard Van Dam has his Master’s degrees in Biology and Business Administration and Doctorate in Medicine.  His experience and expertise in quality management and process engineering has been invaluable assisting the family in distillery operations.  He continues to give back to the community through his medical practice.

New England Fine Living’s Linda Davis is New England’s expert (and celebrity) regarding all things fine living.  Her home and garden channel focuses on the rich history of New England where she and her family live. Sugarwood 1790 is named for her historic New Hampshire home.   She reminds us to “enjoy a life of fine living, no matter how simple or grand that may be.”

About Sugarwood 1790

Menlo Distillery is delighted to present New England Fine Living’s Sugarwood 1790.  This single-barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is aged 9 years in charred American white oak barrels in Kentucky.  It is bottled at 96 proof and has a delightful and complex bouquet of vanilla, brown sugar, citrus, and honey with underlying flavors of toasted marshmallow, charred oak, and rye spice.

The sophisticated finish of sweet vanilla and spice leaves a warmth reminiscent of olden days.  In keeping with tradition, the classic wax-sealed top and decanter-style bottle make this bourbon a true heirloom. Each bottle of this single-barrel bourbon includes the barrel and bottle number and is hand-signed by Linda Davis (New England Fine Living).

Linda’s Story

to begin,

Linda Smith Davis is the founder, driving force, and Chief Inspiration Officer of New England Fine Living, a global brand that she created over three decades of hard work. As a professionally trained Interior Designer and a self taught serial entrepreneur, Linda has created numerous ventures through multiple mediums, all to share, showcase, and teach "Kindred Spirits' anything she can about her passion for living in the moment and creating a life of fine living, no matter how simple or grand that may be, no matter where they live.

She has coined the phrase “no matter how simple or grand” because she truly believes that Fine Living is not always about wealth, expensive products, or 5 star ratings; it can also be found in simple activities and experiences that inspire you and make you happy.

Linda is proud to be a 12th generation New Englander with deep Massachusetts lineage, and currently resides in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire with her husband Ben and Labradoodle Willow.  She is the proud mom to two and proud step mom to three grown children, and is passionate for starting new ventures such as collaborating with Menlo Distillery to bring forth New England Fine Living’s Sugarwood 1790.
